Art is a basic, fundamental part of a child’s educational experience.

Art has been a basic way for humans to communicate in all cultures throughout history.

Now, more than ever, creative thinking should be a core objective in all schools.

Art is essential.

About Me:

My name is Marcia and I teach K-6 art. I love my job and I love all things related to arts and crafts. At school, I also supervise the yearbook club and Student Council. If you are a club adviser too, I would love to connect with you to share ideas.

Art journaling, mixed media collage and watercolor painting are my favorite types of art to experiment with in my free time. I share my personal art in my other blog Dabblings. I am a contributing editor of a brand-new mixed media art magazine. It’s called Featuring! and we are currently working on our 4th issue. It is a beautiful magazine with lots of “meaty” articles. If you are an artist I highly recommend checking it out and maybe even submitting your artwork.

I have a husband named Andrew, who works for the Wisconsin Radio Network. You may have heard him if you listen to the news on the radio in Wisconsin. We have one daughter named Daria Jane, who was born in October of 2009. She is so much fun and very active! In my spare time, I like to do all sorts of arts and crafts projects, knitting, exercising, reading, playing with my dog and of course, spending time with my baby and husband.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a magazine writer. I avidly read and collected magazines and self-published zines throughout my life. As I grew up, I realized that my true passions were in the art education field. Recently I have begun submitting ideas to publications to write articles.
