This is a sub plan that is perfect for upper elementary. If you wake up sick one day, it’s a good idea to have prepared sub plans that are easy for any teacher to follow (even if they don’t have an art background). This is a simple, one page art handout with goals, steps and an example. I saw this idea on a Facebook group many years ago and created this handout to share with other teachers.
This drawing activity uses markers, crayons or colored pencils and involves students drawing many objects, stacked on top of each other to show balance.
In order to print off the high resolution handout, you will need to download it for free from my TPT shop.
I created a number of other print-and-go handouts for sub art lesson plans. There are loads of ideas online, but you still have to type everything up, get examples and directions ready to go for your sub. With this bundle, the handouts are already created and ready to print. Each sub plan is also available individually if you’d rather pick and choose only certain plans.
I think it’s important to have some emergency plans set to go and handouts printed ahead of time in case you wake up one day with Covid or another illness that prevents you from going in to your classroom to prepare.
Check out this other free sub plan download: Geometric Shaded Animals.
And here is one with inspiration from Richard Scarry!
This a great lesson for kindergarten through second grade: Primary Color Hands.
