This is an art project perfect for a substitute lesson plan. When you have to take a sick day, you never know if your sub is going to have an art background or not. This is a simple, one page art handout with goals, steps and an example. The second page has a value scale to practice shading on. - This drawing activity uses pencil and involves students drawing an animal, dividing it into sections and then shading values in the shapes.
This was actually a drawing I did in my own high school art class for a sketchbook drawing and loved it so much I wanted to share with other art teachers!
I created a number of other print-and-go handouts for sub art lesson plans. There are loads of ideas online, but you still have to type everything up, get examples and directions ready to go for your sub. With this bundle, the handouts are already created and ready to print. Each sub plan is also available individually if you’d rather pick and choose only certain plans.
I think it’s important to have some emergency plans set to go and handouts printed ahead of time in case you wake up one day with Covid or another illness that prevents you from going in to your classroom to prepare.
Here is another FREE Sub Plan: Animals in Cars, inspired by Richard Scarry.
