My Favorite Art Journaling Supplies

I thought I would share with you some of my favorite art journaling supplies. These are supplies I use for my own personal art journaling, not with my students. Many are higher quality (more expensive) for more advanced artists (like you!).

First you will need an art journal. I prefer to use a book with thick, sturdy pages because I like to use a lot of paint and collage in my art journal. Here is a great book from Strathmore called the Visual Journal, Mixed Media. (Amazon affiliate links are used in this post at no extra cost to you. I also shop at Michaels, Dick Blick and Nasco for personal art supplies. We do most of our shopping at Amazon and School Specialty for school art supplies).

Soucolor Colored Pencils. I can’t seem to find a vendor for Crayola Premium colored pencils anymore, but I have also been enjoying the Jolly Thick Colored Pencils.

Lately I’ve also been enjoying using oil pastels of different kinds to add embellishments and marks on my pages.

You can find a lot of fun Washi tapes and stickers on Amazon and at other craft stores.

Thrift stores and book sales are great places to get old books to find interesting pictures. I have bought interesting postage stamps on Ebay. Hope these links help you find some new and fun art supplies to try out. Please let me know if you have any questions!

December 2024 update: I also took my chances in ordering some fun stickers and supplies from two unknown scrapbooking stores on Facebook. I ordered from Journal Say and Soto Studios. They had so many cheap, irresistible, amazing stickers and papers. They were delivered from overseas and shipping took at least 2-3 weeks to get to my house. But, I was very happy with all of the fun and colorful stickers I received from there. The holographic and transparent stickers were gorgeous! I would be cautious ordering anything words, because the quote stickers I got were quite ridiculous with really bad translations or AI quotes, I’m not sure, but they didn’t make sense! Overall, I will definitely order from them again, given the price, selection and overall quality. (I’m not affiliated with them in any way.)
