Why I Love Collage

A collage of various objects and patterns, featuring watermelon slices, oranges, and the word "awesome" in the center. Collage became a part of Modern art in the early 20th century. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were credited with naming this type of art. The word collage comes from the French word coller, which means to glue. Collages can be made of many materials.  I have an assortment of student collages to show you.

A collage featuring abstract shapes, a planet, a car, and a heart with the word "Winner" written on it showcases why I love collage as an art form.Collage art is unique because you take already existing materials and arrange them into a new art form.

A collage featuring a spotted dog amidst colorful and abstract cosmic-themed shapes. Artistic collage with cosmic and nature images, featuring a Dalmatian with multicolored spots at the center, celebrating love and creativity.Collage is all about playing around with materials and colors and images, gluing them down and seeing what happens next.

A collage of various blue-toned paper pieces arranged creatively on a white background. The best part is- there is no way to make a mistake. If you don’t like what you glued down, simply glue over it, peel it off or even paint over it.

Collage of fragmented blue and white robot schematics and space-themed images on a white background, creating a collage infused with futuristic elements.Collage is perfect for people who say, “I can’t draw.” It levels the playing field. All it requires is scissors, glue and papers.

Abstract collage with various shades of blue and purple, featuring galaxies, text, and different textures. Why do I like collage so much?

  • Collage can be simple or complicated.
  • Collage can tell an intentional story OR and unintended one.
  • New connections are made when unrelated images are put together.
  • It is wonderful for generating ideas and when you make one collage, you will often get an idea for your next artwork.
  • Collage is a great way to play with colors, textures and shapes. What colors go well together? How many different shades of blue can I find
  • It is lots of fun!

Collage of various starry night, floral, and abstract patterns on a white canvas, showcasing the beauty and love of art. A notebook with a cover made of various colorful, abstract collage pieces, featuring a mix of textures and colors, filled with the love for art and creativity. A collage with cut-out magazine images and texts, blending faces, landmarks, and various patterns in a unique art form.
