Mixed Media Snowmen Art Project for Kids (1st Grade)

A charming mixed media snowman art displayed on a blue background with the title "Mixed Media Snowmen" at the top creates an engaging kids' art project. Are you looking for a fun new way to make snowmen with your kids?  I got the idea to use makeup remover pads  from Happy Hooligans.

I did this project with 1st graders.

Start by mixing shades of blue paint with white and other cool colors.  Explain to kids that when you mix white with a color, it makes a lighter tint of that color.  Paint a background for your snowmen.  Let it dry.

Abstract painting of a snowy scene with white dots representing snowflakes on a blue and teal background. Abstract painting with a white background and blue dots scattered throughout, resembling a snowy landscape.Next, set out makeup remover pads, felt, ribbon, washi tape, fuzzy pom poms, foam shapes, buttons and markers.  You could also use fabric, cotton balls, sequins or yarn.  Choose different materials to build your snowmen.  Cut out hats, scarves, eyes and whatever else you want to add to your picture.  We used regular Elmer’s bottle glue to attach our parts.

Child’s drawing of a snowman wearing a hat and scarf, with buttons as details, standing next to a tree under a blue sky. Two snowmen with scarves and hats stand in a colorful, whimsical winter scene with stars and snowflakes. Handmade snowman crafts with colorful buttons, felt scarves, and hats, set against a light blue and white background. Kids Art Project showcasing a colorful children's artwork of a snowman with a ribbon scarf, heart-shaped eyes, and an abstract background in vibrant colors. The kids had a blast!  I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a relaxing break!
