Aren’t these fantastic? I love these pop-up winter scenes.
Guess what? I just made a companion Facebook page for my blog! I thought it would be fun to have another avenue to easily share all kinds of artsy inspiration I come across. Most of the Facebook updates will be links to other blogs, articles and interesting artistic things I find around the web. Of course, I will also share things about my blog, but MOST of the posts will be about other cool things. Come join me over there. Maybe your blog will make an appearance!
1. On the first day of this project, we folded thick white tagboard in half. On the top half, the students used white crayon to draw some snowflakes or stars.
2. Watercolor paints in shades of blue were painted on top.
3. Then, while the paint was still damp, the students used Q-tips dipped in white paint to add snow. Glitter glue was also rubbed on to the paper in places.
4. After these were dry, I pressed them under a stack of books overnight.
5. On the second day of this project, students tore strips of white paper to make snow hills. To make them “pop up”, the bottom was folded and glued to the paper.
6. Snowmen, trees and kids were glued to these snow hills. Some things were also cut out and folded to the bottom of the paper.
