Polar Bears and Snowmen

I was inspired by the polar bears at We Heart Art so I taught a painting project with my 2nd graders.  The students could choose to paint either a polar bear or snowman with white paint.  Hats, scarves, snow and facial features were drawn on with oil pastels or cut from the scrap box.

Child's drawing of a white polar bear wearing a red and white hat and scarf, with star decorations on a blue background. A polar bear wearing a pink scarf examines a small hat with writing, with a tiny snowman in the background. Child's drawing of a white polar bear in a red hat and scarf, with snowflakes falling against a blue background. A child’s drawing of a white polar bear wearing a brown hat and a blue and purple scarf, set against a snowy backdrop. Drawing of a white cat wearing a red Santa hat and gold scarf, with yellow stars and snowmen in the background.
