State Art Show

There’s my student’s artwork in the upper right corner of this panel:  the lion watercolor on muslin cloth.  Every year our state has a state wide art show in the capitol in Madison.

Various pieces of artwork displayed on panels in an art gallery with a decorative ceiling in the background for the State Art Show.

This weekend, I went with my daughter, my friend and her daughter to see the art show.  Here are the two of them in front of a big banner at the show.

At the State Art Show, two children stand in front of a colorful wall display of children's artwork.

A woman and two young children look at artwork displayed on a board in a large, ornate state building.

Daria’s friend said, “Mommy, this one blows my mind.”  So cute.. she is only 3 years old.Later she said, “This one scares me.”  I asked why it scared her.  She said, “It scares me… because it is just so beautiful.”

Here are a few of my favorite artworks from the show.  Inspiration!

Two fluffy dogs with brown and white fur standing on green grass, with hills and a blue sky in the background.

This artwork, featured in the State Art Show, depicts a face peeking through fingers with bright yellow nails and wide-open eyes against a textured background.

Charcoal drawing with a paper square featuring a pear silhouette, a crumpled paper, and a strip of paper.

And one last picture of my cutie pie playing around in the capitol.

A child wearing a colorful coat and hat with a cat face sits between two stone pillars, looking down.
