Painting Fabrics

Abstract graffiti artwork featuring splashes of colors and various shapes with corner frame accents, creating a striking painting.
Here are some more of our painted fabrics.  They doodled on the muslin fabric with Sharpies… graffiti-style!  Then, we used liquid watercolor paints (with a little bit of water) in spray bottles and stencils to spray over them with color.  These are all going to be cut up and used in fabric collages.

FABULOUS! I'd like to stretch and frame one of these and put it on my living room wall. Bravo! Another lesson to pin…

    nice posting.. thanks for sharing.

  5. Caitlin says:

Using liquid watercolors, I assume that this idea wouldn't work on an article of clothing like a bag or t-shirt. But might there be a different kind of paint that would?

  6. Marcia says:

Caitlin, I would think you could still do it on a bag, but since liquid watercolors are not permanent, you couldn't wash it. I think if you mixed Rit fabric dye with water in a spray bottle it would probably work.. but wear ponchos! If you try something that works and sustains a washing let me know!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
