Architecture Collages– Kindergarten

A colorful, child-like painting of three houses with popsicle sticks as frames and abstract shapes in the sky, evoking the playful creativity found in kindergarten architecture collages.

This was a project the kindergarteners did last week.  They first glued down popsicle sticks onto tagboard.  Then they added paint to color!  I let them use markers in places if they wanted.

We read this book:

A colorful house crafted from popsicle sticks with "C + E" written in red cloud-like letters above it, resembling a charming kindergarten project.

A child’s colorful painting of a house with hearts, blue squares, and dots under a sky of dark clouds and raindrops reflects the imaginative spirits seen in kindergarten art projects.

A kindergarten child's painting of two colorful houses with various shapes on them, under a blue sky.

A child's drawing of a house with a red roof, blue sky, green grass, and scattered green dots across the bottom.

I've had this project bookmarked for awhile and am finally going to do it! Did you do it all in one class period? What kind of paint did you use?

  2. Marcia says:

We used tempera paint. The first class period we glued down the sticks and the second class we painted. The glue needed to dry in between!
