Burlap and Felt Quilt Square- 1st grade

Symmetry
1st Grade

How can a quilt be a work of art?
Why do people make art?
The 1st graders looked at and discussed quilts.  We talked about shapes, layering and symmetry.   We made a fabric quilt square using felt, fabric, burlap, ribbon and buttons.  These squares were supposed to demonstrate the student’s understanding of symmetry.
A textured artwork with yellow shapes, plaid fabric, buttons, sequins, and various geometric patterns on a burlap background.
A textured art piece with colored shapes and jewels on fabric scraps, featuring a pink bow at the top.

Hi! I love your blog. I have just started a blog myself. Wanted to know if the children sewed these squares or used glue and if so what type? Thanks! I go room to room so always looking for interesting projects I can manage to set up and clean up in 40 minutes with minimal mess!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
