I changed the look of my home page on this blog and changed the title to “Art is Basic”… the url will remain the same, because I figure I don’t want to change that and have people be confused.
I also updated my school’s art page. I changed the whole look of it and deleted all the old posts from last year, so it’s ready for a fresh new start. You can see that here:
What do you all have on your website for parents and students? Or, is your blog your website? Would you mind posting your school art website below, so I can see what you do? My blog posts are more conversational/how to’s and just in order by date.. the updates for my school website are divided by class and more organized. I do a lot of copy and pasting though, so it doesn’t take too long to update both. I really don’t know how many parents actually look at the art page website. I also put up a lot of artwork on Artsonia.com and the parents often comment to me about that, so I know people do appreciate that gallery of art.

Marcia, Like the new name. I've been following your blog for a while now and have found many useful ideas here. I'm a child care provider that loves to provide creative opportunities for my children. No website for me now – blogging so much easier. I have a blog that I started in 2006 as my communication tool for my parents. http://countryfun.edublogs.org It gives them insight into their children's days that talking about just doesn't. It has grown over the years. I now have expanded blogs(see sidebar on blog) where things are broken out to provide additional information for those that want it. I also don't know everyone that visits, but the families that do let me know they value it.
Most of my school work is shown on Artsonia. That takes a lot of my time, so I don't have as much time to post on my blog as I'd like. I'm trying to streamline it.
I like your new look!

Hmmm change. I must admit, I rather liked the name Vivid Layers; though the new name I guess speaks more to who you are/what it is so I'll get used to it!
As for deleting the old posts – yikes! I sometimes explore old posts on blogs I like, when I'm looking for something or other, so I don't know about this. It seems that now and then people leave comments on old posts and it's always a fun surprise. But I suppose it does clean the blog up a bit!
I don't have a school site, but I honestly don't imagine my parents going to it to look anyhow. I've planned to post on Artsonia for like year or 2 but somehow never get to it… the life of an art teacher!
Oh, I liked vivid layers too, but I think it didn't describe the blog content directly. The only old posts I deleted were from the school website where the parents look to see what their kids are doing that week in art. I add more and more until the end of the year, so they can see all we did during the year. I didn't delete anything from this blog, because I totally agree with you!
CountryFunMaine, I looked at your site and it sounds like a very fun place for the kids!
Thanks Pam and Barb!
I'm a newbie to blogging but so far I LOVE it. And, it's so much easier than our districts Website software. I have my blog linked to my school website so I only have to update the blog.
