I am not a sewer, let’s just put that right out there. I think it is so fun though to use the sewing machine as a tool for collages. I just started doing it and wow, is it so much more fun to use a sewing machine that actually works as opposed to a junky one that does not work half the time. My art is imperfect. To connect with the Science, the Primaries are learning about how artists can use recycled and cast off materials to make art. We are watching a video about an artist who goes to the scrap and junkyard to find art materials. We are making our own mask made out of scraps: bottle caps, wood pieces, plastic parts. Reading Rainbow Stay Away From the Junkyard hilarious! We used these donated medicine lids.
This is a dreamcatcher ornament that will be sent to the Governor’s Mansion in Madison, WI for the Christmas tree. A group of kids in a 3rd/4th grade class made this.

Today I held an after school clay class for grades K-5. I had 11 kids sign up and we made pocket pots. These are so fun! These are all 8 1/2 x 11″ with all sorts of paints, inks, collages papers and pictures. I decided to start working in this size format and decided to put all these pages in regular clear binder sleeves and then put them in a regular binder. I got sick of futzing with the scrapbook binders.
The Governor’s Mansion in Madison sent us a call for ornaments made by 4th graders based on a book. These ornaments will be hung on a large Christmas tree in the mansion. Only one per classroom could be submitted. As a group, several of the students made this dream catcher. A few weeks ago we went to Vegas for a wedding. I had so much fun taking pictures of everything I saw. It was also great to see some friends that I don’t see very often. The other post were pictures I took night. My brother and sister-in-law came over tonight and we played a game called Konexi and then had fun playing around with the letters. They were given this game as a gift by their friend Rachel, so we arranged letters in her name and sent her some pictures.
