Crusade #47

Another challenge I recently discovered is Michelle Ward’s street team crusade.  There is a new technique every month and then you post your results.  This month the challenge is “It’s a Wrap”.  You are supposed to incorporate wrapping paper, tags or cards into your artwork.  This is some Christmas wrapping paper, combined with my own drawing and painting. Egyptian profile paintings–4th/5th grade

Egyptian Profile Paintings:The 4/5s have studied ancient Egypt in their social studies class.  In Art class, they are using the standard proportions of the human face to draw each other in profile.  Then, they are adding typical ancient Egyptian headdresses, clothes and jewelry to their portraits.  Finally, they are drawing some hieroglyphics to finish the picture.

Native American Pottery, 3rd/4th grade

Native American Potttery:The 3/4s are learning about Native American pottery, in particular the Mimbres bowls.  Check out the link for more information.  They made their own coil-built pot and used sgraffito techniques to design the inside of the bowl. We used Mayco Stroke and Coat Underglaze and then painted Amaco clear glaze on top.  I love the brilliant colors.  I would never have tried this because it’s more expensive than others, but my colleague WON a whole box of this … Read more…
