This fabric collage is approximately 9 x 12″ There are some painted papers, ribbons, regular fabric, hand-painted fabric and gesso. I like the contrast of colors in this one. Art is a learning process! I’m reading this great book now, and I can’t wait to try out some of the techniques:

I really like to knit, but I’m not that skilled at it. I would say I’m probably an intermediate level knitter. I’m not good at precise things, and many times I’ll be knitting something and end up with extra stitches or something will look wonky. So, when I found these knitted balls, I got really excited. This is hanging in my living. Inspiration was a dream I had about an octopus strangling me and then I was looking through some children’s books and saw some odd pictures of octopuses (octopi?) and I did a series of octopus artworks.. the others have since seen their demise. I am not a sewer, let’s just put that right out there. I think it is so fun though to use the sewing machine as a tool for collages. These are all 8 1/2 x 11″ with all sorts of paints, inks, collages papers and pictures. I decided to start working in this size format and decided to put all these pages in regular clear binder sleeves and then put them in a regular binder. I got sick of futzing with the scrapbook binders.
The other post were pictures I took night. My brother and sister-in-law came over tonight and we played a game called Konexi and then had fun playing around with the letters. They were given this game as a gift by their friend Rachel, so we arranged letters in her name and sent her some pictures.

Being able to play around with art materials all day to test out new things! Does anyone know if there is any “safer” spray paint that kids can use that doesn’t have fumes?
