Fitchburg Library Art Show

Fitchburg Library Art Show

Back in November, we had an art show at the Fitchburg Public Library. The local library is a great place to display artwork and get your students’ art out in the public. It’s a great advocacy tool and shows community members what you do in art class at the local schools.  Other places we have had art shows in the past include the mall, a pizza place, a winery (owned by one of our parents), our school and a performing … Read more…

State Art Show

At the State Art Show, two children stand in front of a colorful wall display of children's artwork.

There’s my student’s artwork in the upper right corner of this panel:  the lion watercolor on muslin cloth.  Every year our state has a state wide art show in the capitol in Madison. This weekend, I went with my daughter, my friend and her daughter to see the art show.  Here are the two of them in front of a big banner at the show.   Daria’s friend said, “Mommy, this one blows my mind.”  So cute.. she is … Read more…

Student Art Show at the Mall

Four colorful abstract art pieces displayed on a gray wall at the Student Art Show. Each artwork has its own unique design and style.

We had our regional art show through the Wisconsin Art Education Association this week.  The artwork was displayed all week at the local mall.  Many schools participated with art from kids in grades K-12.  It is always so fun to see what other schools are doing.  The high school artwork is always so amazing!  We had our closing reception today and many families showed up.  It was a great turnout despite the freezing rain.  One artwork from each teacher was … Read more…

Celebrating 2012– Highlights of My Year

Colorful, whimsical design with the quote "Live in the sunshine & embrace today," surrounded by flowers and patterns.

I read Carin’s post today about her creative achievements of 2012 and it got me thinking “what would be on my list if I were to make one?”  At first I thought, well, I don’t have a whole lot to say, but then I thought back to all the little things I am proud of, that made me happy and experiences I had this year that were fantastic. I’m not going to lie, this Christmas season I was not fully … Read more…

A kitchen scene with a table holding a cereal box, milk jug, and bowl. Wall-mounted calendar and clock in the background.

I went to the State Capitol today to see the Youth Art Month Art Show put on by the WAEA (Wisconsin Art Ed. Association).  The show includes artworks from K-12 students from all over the state.  Our school has two artworks in the show.  One from the middle school teacher and one from one of my students.  I’m so glad hers got chosen for the show because 1) it is a wonderful painting in my opinion!  and 2) she was … Read more…

A display stand with various colorful artworks in a public indoor space near a bookstore will attract art enthusiasts.

We had our Youth Art Month regional art show at the mall this week.  The reception was yesterday.  The judges pick one artwork from each teacher to go on to the state art show at the capitol building, which will be held during the actual Youth Art Month (March).  Here are my students’ artworks:

Art Show!

Two women smiling, standing in front of a yellow wall with multiple framed artworks displayed at an art show.

We had a great art show this weekend at one of our student’s parents’ winery.  We had wine tastings for the adults, snacks for the kids and lots of great artwork.  I selected about 40 artworks and the middle school art teacher also selected about 30 or so…   I put up pictures on my school website.  You can see them all here:EAGLE Artists Rebecca (middle school art teacher) and Marcia (me)
